World Karate Federation (WKF)

The governing body for the sport of karate worldwide as approved by the International Olympic Committee.

USA National Karate Federation (USANKF)

The national governing body for the sport of karate as approved by the US Olympic Committee and the WKF. Many American karate competitors have boasted world-champion victories, but unless they competed on a US National Team selected by the USANKF or its predecessors, the USAKF or the AAU, it was not an International Olympic Committee sanctioned world championship event. The only three American athletes who have won legitimate world championship gold medals are: Tokey Hill, George Kotaka and Elisa Au.

AAU Karate

While not the governing body for karate, the AAU still holds excellent events in our area that can provide competition experience in preparation for USANKF competition.

US Olympic Training Center - Lake Placid, NY

Through the Developmental to Elite Sport-Karate Program, we occasionally have access to training events at The Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid.

Tokey Hill

For 22 years, Tokey Hill was the only American athlete to win a world championship in the sport of karate. He continues to inspire a whole generation of Elite and Developmental Athletes and has greatly improved our performance at international competition. Coach Hill was Head Coach for the US National Team on which our instructor competed for the 1994 World Championships in Malaysia.
