Our philosophy is that you pay for membership and not classes. We do not use long-term contracts and all students may attend as many training sessions as they wish. With the exception of grading fees (for black belt grades only) and guest instructors, who may charge seminar fees, no additional fees are due.

Karate training is a commitment for long-term development and athletic performance. For this reason, we are looking for sincere students who wish to take an active role in their progress and who are willing to make a long-term commitment to themselves and to their training partners.

Try out the Syracuse Jundokan training experience for a month, with our trial offer of $45 and receive a free uniform.

On-going Membership Fees:

After your initial trial period, you can continue your training for $95 per month with no contract to sign and no additional fees to pay.

Family Member Discount:

Additional members of your immediate family are eligible for additional discounts:

  • Two members of the same immediate family may train for a total monthly fee of $145
  • Three of more members of the same immediate family may train for a total monthly fee of $170

Grading Fees:

There are no fees for gradings until black belt level; belts and grade certificates are provided free of charge as part of your membership. The Jundokan organization charges $100 per dan grade for black belt promotions.

In other words, you shouldn't expect any significant costs beyond your ongoing membership dues. As you can tell, our purpose is to teach and practice karate, not to make money through frequent gradings and by selling peripheral products and services.

Visitors/Guests:

Visitors pay a “mat fee” of $15 per class. First-time visitors are eligible to attend two classes for free. If a visitor will be training for a longer period, special arrangements may be made with the instructor.

Private Classes:

Private classes are available at the rate of $50 per hour. However, prior to scheduling such sessions, we encourage students to attend the open training sessions on Saturday mornings at which ample one-on-one time is available with the instructor.

Referral Program:

Refer a friend and get a month of free training added to your current membership term once your friend completes the trial periof and signs up for continuing classes.

Equipment:

Equipment, including uniforms, is available through the Syracuse Jundokan dojo shop or may be purchased directly by our members from other sources. Proceeds from the dojo shop are donated to the Syracuse Karate Foundation in support of our competitive athletes.
